I heart Miranda July

Hello there, so I realise that I seem to always be writing about creative women. Not intentionally, but at the moment I guess these women just seem to be more inspirational to me- creatively anyway!.. I’m reading Patti Smith ‘Just Kids’ and I’m sorry I didn’t listen to the countless people telling me to do so years ago. I think now is the right time though and I’m feeling excited and inspired. I suppose I have never felt so independent and liberated in my life. I’m unattached, Im paying my way and I’m doing exactly what I want to do, whilst living in the most incredible city. Of course it’s a struggle but its a journey I decided to take and it feels good!..

Miranda July is just amazing. I love her work, its weird and wonderful and I like to think she and I would get on like a house on fire!… I would love to work with this woman! I’d choose her over Tim Burton, Stephen Spielberg and any other top Director any day! July is my number 1!

Miranda’s directorial debut, You me and Everyone we know is by far my favourite film. Ever. It won the Cannes d’Or amongst many other awards. I have to say I just adore everything about it. The struggling quirky artist, the father and his young sons.. The social awkwardness, the dark humour, the teenage coming of age, the chance meeting, the power of the internet! the magic, the love, the coincidences, the determination, the controversy, this film has everything. As an actress, this is the kind of work I want to be doing. July’s second feature ‘The Future’ is out and as you can imagine I’m really looking forward to seeing it. Have any of you seen it yet?
