Karima Francis
Congratulations to Blackpool born singer-songwriter Karima Francis, who last night signed a record deal with Mercury Records.. literally moments before taking to the stage as support act for Smith and Burrows. Understandably over whelmed, she gave a very heartfelt, emotional performance, saying how she wanted to tell her life story in a half an hour, but it just wasn’t possible.. well eh.. maybe for the best karima!
It was already crystal clear, she had hard earned her position and subsequent record deal.. none of it came easy to her.
Needless to say you can really feel the pain and emotion in her voice, its all soul and heart.. nothing like a singer who sings from their heart.
I must say, style wise? this girl is just the coolest looking dude I’ve ever seen. I love her authentic, androgynous look.. IT IS HER! without a doubt and unapologetically. I have never seen skinny jeans on legs so skinny.. and that hair!?… She just emulates rock star, oozing cool in a Bob Dylan kind of way.
Its always a pleasure to see a young talented artist work hard and succeed.. so congratulations Karima. Fair feckin play!
Now that you’ve noted her style.. Have a listen to her incredible voice below.. love this song x
Earmuffs
My super stylish friend Dee left her earmuffs in mine the other night.. I’ve always thought earmuffs were a bit weird.. something about them put me on edge.. Ear muffs!? muff muff muff!….. Perhaps it was the muff bit that put me off.. Anyway I’m wearing said muff’s right now and I realise I’ve been missing out! big time! Its been so long since I owned a pair of these practical lil ear warmers. I mean whats not to like? they keep your ears warm and your hair in place and they are a stylish alternative to a hat.
I’m working in Camden at the moment and Im loving the buzzing energy there. I’ve been exploring the vintage shops in Chalk farm and they are full of christmas jumpers and warm winter accessories.
First and foremost though, my advice would be to get yourselves some muffs!.. There are loads of lovely furry/printed ones in the markets for 4 quid!..
toasty ears!?.. priceless x

Stylish Looks March 2011
via instyle
How does Olivia Palermo always get her style so right?! I’m loving her print outfit (top left image) which she wore to a Save The Earth event in New York this week. Top is by Rachel Roy and skirt is Topshop. Some other great style also - very monochrome but I love it!
Paul Costelloe at LFW
Friday 18th Feb 2011
On Friday morning Paul Costelloe opened London Fashion Week, showcasing his Autumn Winter 2011/12 collection. Myself and Avril headed over to Somerset House for the show. I always love the buzz and atmosphere at Paul Costelloe’s catwalk shows and this season was no exception … a show full of brights, mad red hair, funky tights, tartans, tweeds, and his own daughter Jessica gracing the catwalk.
This season Costelloe paid homage to his Irish roots. Prior to the show I had heard that he was planning a catwalk full of red-head models. This was something I was very excited about. The only time it did look a bit strange was when the male models were walking alongside a sea of identical female red heads! Although I don’t think they would have suited the wigs quite so well. Costelloe even used a tweed sourced in Tipperary (I’m a Tipp girl!) to showcase his Irish heritage.
The music selection was bang on … a vital ingredient to any show in my opinion. One of his previous shows had Beyonce ’Single Ladies’ blaring out on repeat – I couldn’t stop singing it for days after!
A great morning and bright start to London Fashion Week. This is the first of our postings from LFW - more to come during the week.

Alie
Over the Christmas break I did a photo shoot with my beautiful cousin Alie who has recently taken to the modelling world. Can you believe she is married with 2 children!! Here are some of the snaps – we had a great day in my dad’s photographic studio in Tipperary. Hopefully we will get some outdoor/street style photos next time I am home in lovely Ireland.

Nudie Jeans at Liberty
Swedish brand Nudie Jeans threw a party last night to celebrate the launch of their shop-in-shop at Liberty’s Denim Department. The highlight of which was an amazing performance by the very talented Justin Townes Earle. This tall Tennessee man has a raw, raspy, earthy voice that makes me want to cry!…literally.. His music is authentic, moving and oh so real..it tells a story. His performance was so honest and there was something quite humble about him. You could tell that he had a few mad stories in him, which isn’t surprising as he is a reformed drug addict. Thankfully music is his addiction now..so we can all benefit. It was an acoustic set, just him and his guitar..it really was perfect… He broke a string in the middle of the set and literally 3 minutes later he had it restrung in tune and sorted..very impressive. You can see he has a very close relationship with his guitar!.. Check him out! He’s playing tomorrow night at The Union Chapel Islington, I highly recommend you go see him. In fact I think I will go see him again.. He was truly magnetic! Harlem River Blues was one of my favourite tunes..Yeehaw! makes me want to dress up as a cowgirl!..it also makes me want to dust off my guitar and get practicing.
Everyone loves a good pair of jeans and at times they can be hard to come by. Nudie Jeans are popular with both men and women, some of the styles being more popular with the girls..I really want to get a pair soon. They are just plain cool..great fits and so comfortable. Thank you Nudie for a wonderful night. And thank you Justin Townes Earle. You rock!

Fuudluxe
These shots were taken by Emma just before Christmas at Somerset House. As always, it was such a pleasure to do this shoot. There was a real festive vibe in the air. Fashion Accessories brand, Fuudluxe, were kind enough to let us feature their hoods.
Fuudluxe was founded by Lousie Halswell and Laura Boyle. These two creatives are constantly conjuring up new ideas and are forever experimenting with new materials. I love their fresh outlook and willingness to mix it up a little. Not only are these hoods seriously comfy and warm but they also look effortlessly trendy.
It can be tricky to look good in cold weather!. . . Believe me when winter comes, runny-nosed and red-faced I find myself reaching for my not so stylish sleeping bag coat! I’m all about the comfort. So it’s nice to have a practical, warm, easy to wear accessory like this, that also looks great. You can get your hands on one of theses hoods at Asos Market Place. They come in a variety of styles from brown leather, tweed, and faux fur, to lumberjack cotton, suede and sheepskin.
